play'in and play'in

There is something about the kids playing with the couch cousins and jumping on the bed that puts a huge smile on my face. It's one of those things that could really go either way as far as letting them do that. They have such a blast! I feel like I'm giving them the freedom to actually live in their own house. Do certain things at home that they can't do anywhere else. I have my moments of wanting the house to just stay clean for a whole 10 minutes....ok longer then that. Home should be fun, a place to bend the order of things. The expressions I get when they jump on the bed or create slides out of the cousins is absolutely priceless. I will cherish these moments while they are my two little monkeys cuz soon enough they'll out grow it.

Here we are at the gym. I hear this sound...like shooting a gun sound. O yes, sure enough as I turn around there is Quin with a "gun" he made out of the blocks shooting at something. I very quickly grabbed my camera a took a picture. I began to crack up. I didn't know wheter to be concerned or to just keep laughing. I could'nt believe it! What two yr. old knows how to do that! Obviously he learned that from the other kids at the gym. So, to me I see the whole toy gun deal a boy thing. Back before we had the horrible video games, it was all about good cops and cowboys. I know these days there are a lot of mixed emotions on play guns and all. Since Quin will not be experiancing "video game" world I see him as my lil' cowboy.
I love and I mean love watching Quin play with the "choo choo" as he puts it. Everything is a "choo choo." Cars, the trains, and tracks. It's my favorite word that he says. He loves Thomas the train, the movie Cars...which is a"choo choo" too. We stared potty training and I got him a Cars little toddler seat to sit on. I ask him if he wants to go potty and he says no. When I gentely inch my way to the seat and he finally sits down, boy he trys to go with all his might. It's just so sweet...ok, sorry maybe this is just a moment a mother could love. I'm going to share anyway. Anyways, he looks at me with this expression of wanting to do a good job for me. He is a boy of service. I believe that is his God given gift, to serve others. Even if it means simply going #2 for you. I love my little man!

One word....

SERIOUSLY!!

Date with Daddy (Jan 09)

Keena seems to be on top of the world when Ham asks her on a date. I believe they went to a basketball game on this particular date. These moments with him will be remembered forever! Another time I just love is on Saturdays. Ham takes her to starbucks in the morning for a chocolate donut, which Keena really looks forward to and hot chocolate. They do a little bible study together and come home. When she gets home she races to find me to let me know what she learned. This is just one of those little things that will impact her life forever. Love it!

Jan 09 they insisted on going to the park

He looks like a little gorilla eating a banana!...haha
I love how the park brings out the joy in my kids. This was a pretty cold afternoon but they were still trying to have so much fun.

Moments to be treasured

Showing some love!

How cute is that!

Every Wednesday night Papa takes Keena and Porter swimming. Keena really looks forward to that every week! Thank you papa for planning such a special time with your grand kids. They will treasure these moments forever.

We must not forget Nani in all this. She spends quality one on one time with Quin while mom and dad workout together. Thank you Nani for allowing Ham and I to have that time together. We also know that you are very much needed in getting the kids out the door with papa with all their things. We greatly appreciate your help in that. Our kids adore you both more then you can imagine. Thank you so much for being so involved in their lives.

Cutest tiger I've ever seen

Ham took Keena to the home show and she came home looking like this! So cute.

Quins 2nd birthday party (part 1)

Getting ready for the party. Keena helping with the cupcakes...or maybe just making sure the batter is licked clean off the utensils.
Hamilton helping with blowing up about 30 plus balloons. One thing I love to do for the kids is blow up a ton of balloons the night before their birthday so they wake up to a house full of balloons. They love it!! It is so much fun to surprise them with that.

Ok, so I was quite shocked we were already coming up on Quins 2nd birthday. I was not exactly myself in planning for it either. In my world it was thrown together, but maybe in Hamiltons world their was plenty of planning ahead. Anyway, that's here nor there. It was fabulous! The smilebox says it all. What was meant to be a small family get together turned out to be a 15 people plus party. Yes, and it included just family. I tip my hats to you gals that plan a huge party for your children every year! I admit this year Quins birthday snuck up on me. It was well worth "throwing" something together.

V-day slumber party

"Now your funny faces...Keena, you can leave the gang signs out."
Awwww...that's pretty cute.
Even better!

We had Keenas friend Sailor over for a sleep over on Valentines Day so my friend and her husband could go have a good time. Ham and I went out on the 13th. I am really glad we were available to watch Sailor. Keena and Sailor had a great time together. We had pizza shaped as a heart and ate popcorn while watching a movie. O ya.... I almost forgot about the candy. It was quite the party!

Looking back from 2-07 thru 12-08

I wanted to put this together because it has been such an amazing experience to watch Keena and Quin grow together. There is just so much to learn...from sharing to apologizing. I already see Quin looking up to his big sister. He looks to her to see what to do and how to do things. Keena is trying to take control and be the mommy. Sometimes she tells me, " I can handle it mom." I remind her that diciplining her brother is only for mom to do. Sometimes she'll just say, " thanks mom for taking care of that." Keena is such a helper to him. When he falls, she is right there to pick him up and dust him off. She can't wait to play with him in the morning. I think my favorite line of Keenas is, "brother, do you want to come play with me"? Quin says, "yeah." They both go running down the hall to toys and play and play. I love how they forgive each other after battle. Within literally 2 seconds they are back to cracking up and playing.

I believe this slide show will remind them how much they need and love each other...just in case they forget. I want them to live true connectedness, whether it be through their family or friends. My kids inspire me. I think they teach me as much as I teach them. Sometime I forget how amazing my role is in their lives. How it's not enough for me to talk the talk, but I need to be what I expect of them. Life is such an amazing adventure of growth.
